The Old Mill is a 16th Century converted corn mill at Felinfach near Brecon. It offers warm and welcoming guest accommodation in Powys and is a wonderful and relaxing retreat for those who are looking to escape the noise of modern living. We are nestled in a rural location within the Brecon Beacons National Park and have hens, ducks, geese and ponies on site.
Our accommodation dates back to the 16th Century and stopped working as a mill just after WWII. This is due to industries moving on and the ‘modern housewife’ wanting pre-packed bread. The village is named after this property and translates as ‘little mill’ in English.
This historical mill house has 3 guest rooms available:
A double room with en suite shower room.
Twin room with en suite shower room.
Double room with vanity unit and private bathroom adjacent to the room.
All of the guest rooms include a Freeview TV, free Wi-Fi, beverage tray with tea and coffee, towels, water and hair dryers.
Breakfast can be enjoyed in our dining room each morning and is freshly made for you. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements when booking. There are a couple of pubs within a three minute walk of The Old Mil, where guests can enjoy a delicious meal. One has a traditional pub menu and the other serves gastro cuisine.
The surrounding area is a haven for those who love spending time outdoors. There are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing, riding, gliding, canoeing or even bog snorkelling! Two excellent golf courses are also nearby. If you wish to travel around our wonderful countryside, then you can find an immense amount of things to do and places to see within an hour's drive. We are ideally located for walking in the Brecon Beacons, fishing and canoeing on the River Wye, pony trekking and gliding in the Black Mountains. The Brecon Beacons have also gained International Dark Sky Reserve status - so make sure you bring a blanket with you so you can wrap up warm and enjoy the beautiful night skies!.
