Great House is a lovely Grade II listed 16th Century stone house that is situated in the very quiet surroundings of Caerleon near Newport in Monmouthshire.
Our bed and breakfast accommodation comprises of 2 twin guest rooms and a single guest room. Each of the guest rooms has a Freeview TV, hair dryer, hand basin and refreshments tray with tea and coffee. There is a very pretty bathroom with bath and shower and we also boast free Wi-Fi access.
The pretty garden fronts the banks of the River Usk and during the summer you will see a variety of beautiful plants and in particular many different types of clematis.
Dinah has extensive knowledge of the local area and is always happy to point people in the direction of pubs with good food, pretty villages, antique markets and areas of picturesque beauty. Great House is an ideal place to start the Usk Valley Walk.
Great House is ideally positioned for golfers, being only 1 mile away from the Celtic Manor Resort (host for the 2010 Ryder Cup). Cardiff and the Millennium Stadium are located just twelve miles away. The Bell Inn, a gastro pub which specializes in Welsh produce, serves excellent food and is a mere 50 metres away. A delightful walk via the old stone bridge over the Usk will take you to Caerleon's historic Roman ampitheatre, baths and museums.
Newport is well worth a visit with the new Friars Walk shopping centre catering for all your shopping needs. Our B&B is also within touching distance of Cardiff which contains a variety of shops, events and the world famous Millennium Stadium.
