The Half Moon is located in a lovely part of Wales, in Llanthony near Abergavenny. This traditional Welsh Inn dates back to the 1700ís, when it was originally a pair of work manís cottages. It now provides comfortable and cosy guest accommodation for those who want to explore Monmouthshire and walk the Black Mountains.
We have guest rooms available to suit all, so whether you are a solo traveller, couple, friends or a family Ė all are welcome. Breakfast is included within the room rate and is freshly prepared each morning.
Llanthony is the ideal place to enjoy peace, quiet and tranquillity, go for some gentle walking, do some more serious hiking, mountain biking, horse riding or take a road cycle through the winding and undulating country lanes up to Hay Bluff and the world famous town of books, Hay-on-Wye. Take a trip to Grwyne Fawr reservoir on foot, by mountain bike or on horse back. The reservoir is located just over the hill in the valley of the Grwyne Fawr which was the site of the murder in 1136 of the Norman Marcher lord Richard de Clare, 1st Earl of Hertford, by the Welsh under Iorwerth ab Owain and his brother Morgan, grandsons of Caradog ap Gruffydd. This resulted in a period of conflict between the Welsh and English in South Wales.
