Whether you are a walker needing some respite and a place to soak those aching feet, planning a stay in the Monmouth and Wye Valley area or simply needing some comfortable accommodation on the way to somewhere else, The Queen's Head offers clean, affordable and comfortable rooms.
Close to the centre of Monmouth and right in the heart of the beautiful Wye Valley, we are also very useful if you happen to be travelling from the North of Wales or England, south to Wales or vice versa. Twenty minutes off of the M4, twenty-five minutes from the Severn Bridge, half an hour from the M5, and two minutes walk from the River Wye: staying at The Queen's means you are well connected and within easy reach of stunning countryside or more than half a dozen major cities, including Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Newport, Bath and Birmingham.
Here at The Queen's we have six rooms: two doubles, three twins and one triple.
Based in Monmouthshire/Gwent and with up to five nights of superb quality, free, live music, the Queen's has rapidly established itself as one of Wales' premier live music venues. It certainly can confidently lay claim to being one of the best FREE live music venues, with paid-for gigs at the pub being a rarity and even when there is a charge on the door it is rarely more than the price of a pint. Nights can feature Blues, Traditional Irish, Jazz, Acoustic Folk and much more.
At the end of June 2005 the 16th Century Queens Head Pub in St. James' Street became Monmouth's first Community Pub. The group of local business people who took the tenancy of the pub over are committed to 'making the Queens a welcoming pub for all', offering a relaxed ambience, excellent live music, a free lending library and excellent North Bengal cuisine available from the Imli restaurant.
