The Hayloft is a spacious, beautifully vaulted luxury bedroom above the former stables at our 18th Century barn conversion home. Located between Somerton and Langport in Somerset, there are lovely views for miles across the levels from the room's Juliet balcony; peace, tranquility and a very warm welcome are what you will find here!
Barn owls and our resident pheasants and gregarious buzzard are often to be seen swooping around the grounds and the walks behind the Old Stables up through our private woodland with its resident deer and badgers are here to explore. Our Grade II listed converted barn retains its character whilst offering luxurious guest accommodation and all the facilities of a modern B&B.
The first-floor ensuite bedroom has a super comfy king-size bed (which can be made into a twin if preferred). There are armchairs which can be easily turned to watch TV and an elegant sofa and glass table to relax on along with a baby grand piano (that was my grandfather’s 21st birthday present back in 1927, so a real heirloom!). Steps lead down into a dressing room/snug with a dressing table and sofa and off this is the ensuite bathroom with shower (within bath), WC and wash hand basin. There is a hanging wardrobe and chest of drawers in the dressing room. We offer hotel standard bed linen and good quality towels. Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, 42" flat-screen TV with Netflix and Sky (including Sky and BT sports), free Wi-Fi, tasteful furnishings and luxury toiletries and hairdryer.
A complimentary continental breakfast is provided which you can either have delivered to your room or enjoy in our dining room with its original stable beams. However, you may like to opt for our more substantial Full English farmhouse breakfast (at an additional £10 per head) which we serve between 8.30am and 10am in the dining room. Locally sourced produce is used wherever possible. We are fortunate to have many lovely pubs and restaurants within an easy drive and if you fancy a 40 minute stroll through the woods, there is our locally famous traditional pub “The Halfway House” at Pitney; this is highly recommended, serving excellent food and offering a wide choice of local ales. We would be pleased to advise on restaurants, taxis etc and local places of interest.
Situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), The Old Stables provides a peaceful retreat to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside. We are ideally located for exploring the very best of Somerset, Dorset and Devon and are only half an hour from Wells (with its stunning Cathedral), 15 minutes from Street with its famous Clarks factory outlet village and Glastonbury town, 10 minutes from the National Trust property of Lytes Cary and 25 minutes from Montacute House and gardens. Stourhead, Longleat, Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar are all within 45 minutes drive and Devon is only half an hour away. Walkers will be spoiled for choice with the miles of wonderful walks on our doorstep.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Hayloft at The Old Stables.
