Bashfords Farmhouse is a beautifully restored 17th Century farmhouse in West Bagborough, a village high in the Quantock Hills, which is within reach of the town of Taunton. Boasting wonderfully appointed rooms and a tranquil setting, our B&B accommodation is a perfect choice for those who wish to discover Somerset.
Run by Charlie and Jane Ritchie since 1993, it offers a choice of 2 bedrooms which can be twins or doubles, one has its own en suite and the other has its own private shower room. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture. Guests also have access to their own large sitting room with wood burning stove, books and music.
Charlie and Jane pride themselves on their cooking and dinner, available by prior arrangement, is served around a huge pine table.
The Quantock Hills were the UK's first ever designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offer glorious walks, while readily accessible from all Text taken from thebandbdirectory.co.uk parts of the country. You can walk from our front door straight onto the Quantocks where you are likely to see red deer, buzzards and a wide variety of other wildlife.
Charlie and Jane can advise on the best walks in the area, as well as providing maps and packed lunches if required. Exmoor is a 30 minute drive away for those who enjoy a wilder countryside and there are a number of long distance walks that cross the area (The MacMillan Way, West Deane Way, The Coleridge Way). The Jurassic Coast and the popular destinations of Lyme Regis, Beer and Weymouth are an hour or so by car.
