Combe Bank Guest House offers 4 Star Silver rated accommodation in the beautiful Devon town of Sidmouth. Set amongst an award-winning garden and with the beach just a short journey away, our guest house presents a wonderful coastal getaway.
The house was built in the 1920s and sits in a lovely quiet residential area of Sidmouth only 5 minutes’ walk from the National Trust owned conservation area ‘The Byes’, which leads to the town centre and the delightful traditional regency seafront.
We offer a choice of double or twin rooms (one being on the ground floor), all offering newly refurbished en suite facilities. The twin rooms are at the rear of the house and overlook the garden with views over the Sid Valley. The double rooms are at the front of the building and all have views over the valley. Alexandria Road is very quiet at night providing the right atmosphere for a refreshing sleep. All beds have duck and down duvets, but fibre filled duvets or blankets are available on request.
Each room is furnished with a well-stocked hospitality tray providing a choice of teas, coffee, chocolate, biscuits and Glastonbury Water. In addition, all rooms are equipped with flat-screen television, DVD player, radio alarm and hairdryer. An iron and ironing board, cooling fan or heater are available on request.
The bathrooms on the first floor all have showers and heated towel rails, plus illuminated mirrors with electric shaver points. The ground floor twin room has a bath with shower over and all bathrooms are well stocked with environmentally friendly soaps, shower gel, tissues, cosmetic pads and moisturising lotion.
For breakfast you can choose from a selection of fruit juices, Harry’s fresh fruit salad, yoghurts (fruit & plain), cereals followed by our Coombe Bank fried breakfast, omelette or if ordered in advance smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, or even smoked haddock and a poached egg for a change. There is something for everyone including vegetarians or those with specific dietary needs. We can also provide an evening meal on request using locally sourced produce.
Our south-facing garden is a lovely location to relax and enjoy the beautiful views over the Sid Valley. It was accredited with a Silver Gilt award by the 2008 Sidmouth in Bloom Judging Panel. There is easy access to the patio with chairs for a comfortable view of the valley whilst enjoying the Sidmouth Sun.
Beautiful gardens and leisurely walks, regency history and the Jurassic coast with clean beaches and friendly shops: it's all here in this lovely seaside town that nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley.
For active guests, there are fantastic coastal, river, woodland and moorland walks and cycling paths within easy reach. For those more sporting guests, there are several golf courses, croquet lawns, tennis courts, bowls greens, horse riding, fishing and sailing all within easy reach. During the summer Sidmouth cricket club (one of the few clubs left with a thatched clubhouse and scorers box) hosts many matches each week and you can relax by the sea, enjoy a great cuppa and gaze out to sea all at the same time as watching the play.
