Druimneil House Bed and Breakfast

Port Appin, Argyll

Druimneil House is in a beautiful part of Argyll, at Port Appin on Loch Linnhe. The house was built in 1850 and provides guests with a spacious and elegant place to stay. It has all the best features of mid-Victorian architecture alongside modern features that make for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Each guest is welcomed here in an individual and personal way, to ensure that you feel comfortable and can relax, enjoying the tranquillity that is very much a part of the Druimneil experience. The house is surrounded by beautiful grounds and gardens, which also makes us an ideal venue for a special occasion, function or celebration.

All guest rooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished, each with its own individual style. Room amenities include:

A hairdryer on request.
Tea/coffee making facilities.
Antique furniture.

Guests can choose to stay in our double room, which has a four-poster bed or one of our twin bedrooms. Well behaved children are welcome to stay in either of the twin rooms by arrangement but must be supervised at all times especially in the gardens, which include a large pond.

The gardens at Druimneil House is beautifully maintained and are an ongoing project that requires much care, love and attention. We have a wonderful collection of indigenous Rhododendrons and many other mature trees and shrubs. The garden at Druimneil House is open to the public under the Scotland Garden Scheme from Easter to October. There is always a good selection of plants and shrubs for sale from the nursery and polytunnels. Water makes a very important addition to a garden of this sort, so we have resurrected one very ancient pond and having enlarged it considerably, we have added two smaller ponds, which have created a completely different dimension to the garden, along with the wonderful sculpture of the boy and the dolphin in the pond by David Wynne. Most of the replanting is homegrown and comes mainly from the Walled Kitchen Garden.

On those days when you want to explore Fife, you will find that our B&B is ideally located. The West Coast of Scotland with its renowned Scottish Highland scenery and beautiful views is within easy reach, as well as a variety of outdoor activities. This includes birdwatching, fishing and shooting, all of which can be arranged for you from the B&B.

Oban is the major ferry port, about 20 miles south of Druimneil House. In Oban, you will find passenger ferries with regular services to the Isle of Mull and the other Western Isles including Iona with its famous cathedral.
