Lynturk Home Farm offers bed and breakfast accommodation located 10 minutes from the centre of Alford in Aberdeenshire. We are the perfect base for those who want to enjoy some of the history that Scotland has to offer as there are plenty of private castles and Nataional Trust Castles & Gardens in every direction.
The handsome farmhouse has been in the family since 1762 and you can roam the surrounding 300 acres of rolling hills. You're treated very much as friends here and your hosts are delightful. It's peaceful, too, on the Aberdeenshire Castle Trail. The bed and breakfast accommodation has 3 rooms available - 2 twins/doubles and 1 double with separate bath.
We have a stunning drawing room, with pier-glass mirror, ancestral portraits and enveloping sofas, is reason enough to come, while the food, served in a candlelit, deep-sage dining room, is delicious, with produce from the farm. In the morning at the B&B, you will wake to the sound of the birds and the sight of the deer from your comfortable en suite bedroom with spectacular far reaching hill views in two directions.
Directions: 20 miles from Aberdeen on A944 (towards Alford); thro' Tillyfourie, then left for Muir of Fowlis & Tough; after Tough, 2nd farm drive on left, signed.
The local village of Alford is home to the Grampian Transport Museum, a heritage centre and a country park with its own miniature railway.
Aberdeen is close by, as is the fascinating northern coastline with its pretty fishing villages. Westward, you'll find Speyside and the whisky distilleries and Royal Deeside is 15 minutes away to the south.
