Welcome to the VisitEngland ‘Best B&B in England 2014’! St. Cuthbert’s House is a 200-year-old former chapel, sensitively and imaginatively converted into luxurious, award-winning bed and breakfast accommodation. Situated in Seahouses, near Bamburgh, on the beautiful Northumberland coast, it’s just a stroll along the beach to Bamburgh Castle, and a short drive to Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.
St. Cuthbert's House has a five-star gold rating and has won a string of coveted awards, including the prestigious Gold Medal at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2014.
It's a peaceful and unique place to stay, giving you easy access to Northumberland’s expansive, pristine beaches and endless skies that will stir the soul.
Property: This historic, Grade II-listed building has been tastefully restored and converted by owners Jeff & Jill Sutheran, in a way that retains many of its original features and much of its period character. Yet it also has the modern facilities and special finishing touches that you’d expect from a five-star rated B&B.
St. Cuthbert’s House is fully licensed with a well-stocked bar offering a wide range of hand-crafted local beers. Guests can enjoy drinks in the attractive lounge area at any time of the day or evening. Be warned, it’s so cosy that you may not want to venture out!
Rooms: All of the beds have pocket-sprung mattresses and are dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, plump duvets and king-sized pillows. All double rooms have 6’ super king-sized beds. After a day out in the beauty of Northumberland, you’re guaranteed a great night’s rest.
Each room has flat-screen television with DVD player; a CD player and DAB radio; a kettle and a range of beverages; a hairdryer; plenty of fluffy, white towels; dressing gowns and slippers; indulgent toiletries by Gilchrist & Soames; and free, wireless internet access.
All guest rooms have en suite bathrooms; some with both a bath and shower, and others with a large walk-in shower enclosure. The two ground-floor bedrooms offer easy access to both the car park and the communal areas of the house, and the Bede Room is particularly suitable for mobility-impaired guests because it has wider doorways and a large wet room-style bathroom.
Breakfast: You’re spoiled for choice from an extensive breakfast menu; enjoy a hearty Northumbrian breakfast freshly prepared with the finest quality, local ingredients including award-winning sausage and bacon from a local butcher and free-range eggs from a nearby farm; or perhaps try a dish made with traditional oak-smoked fish from the iconic smokehouse at Seahouses.
We can cater for special diets - just let them know if there are certain ingredients that you need to avoid.
