The Wolds Inn

Huggate, Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire

The Wolds Inn is situated in the pretty East Yorkshire village of Huggate near Driffield. We are superbly placed for those wishing to explore this beautiful area. Huggate is the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds and at around 170 metres above sea level, you will not be short of spectacular views.

Our newly refurbished bedrooms are substantial in size and have been tastefully decorated and furnished. They are all superbly equipped throughout and include:

Freeview TV.
Tea/coffee making facilities.
Crisp sheets and fluffy towels.
Wi-Fi internet access.
En suite facilities.

A hearty Yorkshire breakfast is served from 9.00am, however, do let us know if you would like to have breakfast earlier. We are open to residents and non-residents for food and drink, so do pop in and see us for some refreshments. All the meat, fish and veg are sourced from the villages nearby and positively heaped on the plate. Proper Yorkshire portion sizes. The pub is always busy for Sunday lunches, but if you visit any other time you should have a go at the ‘Wolds Topper’, a mixed grill consisting of sirloin steak, gammon, pork chop, lamb chop, sausage, black pudding, eggs, tomato, mushrooms and home battered onion rings. The pub is popular with walkers and cyclists and to be fair, you’d certainly need some exercise after that lot.

There’s a sizeable car park and a tidy beer garden to the rear, but your best bet is to get yourself sat on the benches out the front of the pub on a sunny summer day and give false directions to tourists trying to find the location of the nearby ‘Bigger Trees near Warter’.

The village contains many features such as the beautiful parish church of St Marys, which is a Grade I listed building and home to one of the deepest wells in England. Around the area, there are lots of popular walks such as the picturesque Minster Way, with its steep-sided dales.
The Yorkshire Wolds Way passes to the north of the village.
