Description

The Quay House offers unique accommodation, in a beautiful 200 former Harbour Master’s house dating back to C1820 in the historic town of Clifden in Co Galway. This quirky, elegant, one of kind bed and breakfast has been welcoming guests for over a century and is the perfect accommodation from which to explore this truly wonderful and majestic area.

The Quay House has been sensitively restored and now offers superb guest accommodation in fifteen, individually decorated guest rooms; each with full bathrooms, top quality orthopaedic beds and all but three overlooking the picturesque harbour below whilst the remaining 3 have scenic gardens views. We have a range of doubles, twins, family and triple rooms available Text taken from thebandbdirectory.co.uk and each room has been individually furnished with stunning vintage antiques and original paintings and several have working fireplaces. All have large bathrooms with tubs and showers and there is also one ground floor room for wheelchair users.

The interior of the guest house has been thoughtfully decorated in a unique and quirky style with wonderful decorative details throughout which help to create a superbly relaxing and restful atmosphere. There are two sitting rooms with open fires for the use of guests, comfortable furniture and a good selection of reading material and board games.

Breakfast is somewhat of an indulgent affair, served in our grand leafy conservatory with everything freshly prepared and cooked to order. We offer a varied choice of dishes including seafood, devilled kidneys, the ‘full Irish’, locally-smoked salmon, organic porridge, free-range eggs and farm cheeses. Our famous brown bread and fruit brack are both baked daily in the AGA and all breakfasts are served with freshly squeezed orange juice together with fresh fruits, organic muesli and yoghurt.

The Quay House stands right on the harbour, just 7 minutes walk from Clifden town centre. The town is known as the “Capital of Connemara” boasts a thriving tourism industry as its unique and picturesque setting between the foothills of the Twelve Bens and the Atlantic Ocean attracts thousands of visitors annually. Clifden will leave the weary traveller, relaxed, rejuvenated and eager to return again.
