As a family run guest house Graythwaite is a home from home, and whether it is business or pleasure that brings you to the Potteries and Newcastle we will do our best to make your stay pleasant, comfortable and memorable.
All our bedrooms are individually designed and decorated with high quality furnishings and incorporate the finishing touches you might expect in a luxury hotel. Comfortable beds with crisp cotton sheets and duvets (or blankets if you prefer). Our modern bathrooms are finished to a high standard and include toiletries and soft fluffy towels.
All bedrooms have a TV, hairdryers, radio alarm clocks, and of course tea/coffee making facilities and many other extras to enhance your stay. Broadband internet access is available in all rooms. A mini fridge is also available in the lounge for guest use.
We have a great passion for food, hence our award winning breakfast which has earned us an enviable reputation. All our ingredients are sourced locally including our local Farmers Market, and are organic whenever possible. Specialities include a variety of fruit compotes and home made yoghurt, in addition to cereals and fresh fruit juice.
Free range eggs accompany Staffordshire bacon and sausage and you simply cannot leave without trying our local delicacy the Staffordshire Oatcake particularly delicious with our local cheeses.
A variety of breakfast, herbal and fruit teas are available as well as cafetiere coffee and decaffeinated options, plus hot chocolate. There is plenty of scope on our breakfast menu for vegetarians and vegans.
We are ideally situated to access all of the Potteries attractions including the world famous china factories and factory shops the traditional names of Wedgwood, Spode, & Portmerion, but also some of the newer up and coming potters Emma Bridgwater, Lorna Bailey and the re-opening of Burleigh ware. If it is retail therapy that you are looking for, there are excellent shops in Newcastle, Hanley and Freeport. First class leisure and entertainment facilities are close by. We are within walking distance of the excellent New Vic Theatre and Newcastle's Vue multiplex cinema and a short distance from the cultural quarter of the City centre with the Victoria Hall and Regent Theatre.
If you are visiting the area on holiday or for an extended stay then it is very easy to explore further a field places such as the beautiful Peak District, or the historic cities of Chester and Shrewsbury or even Birmingham and Manchester. It is possible to visit most of these places by public transport too.
As we have lived in the area for a long time now we are able to provide lots of information about great things to see and do. We keep ourselves up to date by visiting places regularly. Hazel can tell you all the best Factory shops and how to find the bargains whether it's antiques, material or ceramics and John whose passion is golf can help to point you in the direction of the best Golf courses locally.
