The Griffin Inn is situated just off the main market square in the centre of the market town of Oswestry in Shropshire. The Griffin Inn is a grade two listed building, with oak beams and wooden floors. We serve a varied home cooked menu at lunch times, at affordable prices and offer a wide range of beer, lager and bottled drinks.
Markets have been a major part of the trading and historical importance of Oswestry and have existed for many centuries. The first known Charter was granted during the reign of Henry II when the Town was known as Whiteminster. In 1262 a Charter was granted by John FitzAlan, Lord of the Manor To our Burgesses of our village of Oswaldestree.
Oswestry Markets boasts specialist retailers from cake supplies, sewing repairs, home brew, Welsh goods and party wares among a host of other things? We even have an artist who paints local scenes! If you like collectables and antiques we have four great shops to rummage through at your leisure and when you feel like you need refreshing we have an excellent cafe and coffee bar. We also have a fantastic quality butcher and fishmonger and an excellent new delicatessen which sells a huge variety of cheeses.
