Hoxne Post Office, Shop, Deli, Tea rooms and B&B lies at the heart of the community next to the village green and opposite the 15th century village pub. Hoxne is just south of the river Waveney, set in rolling Suffolk countryside laced with winding lanes and gentle country footpaths.
The letting rooms are on the first floor of this carefully restored late medieval timber framed building. The rooms are clean with sensible ikea beds (windy staircase) and crisp, white, John Lewis linen. However, the decor is tired. Next on the list!
The shop, deli and tea rooms open at 7-30am every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day (post office times are irregular). We can offer you a continental breakfast and any combination of food from our delicatessen. How about Pinney’s smoked salmon on Hempnell Bakery’s Five Seeded Granary?! We have a wide range of top quality local produce including Truly Traceable pies, Fen Farm cheese and Tosier chocolate. We have a fresh organic fruit and veg stall on Friday mornings. Our soup and cake, including our signature dish, gluten free lemon drizzle cake, are all made on the premises.
As the name suggests this is a lively, mixed, business so if you like a chat and want to learn about the area, and tell people your story, this is ideal for you. By the way, if you stumble across any juicy gossip, Joan would like to know every detail as soon as possible. She is, after all, the Sub-Post Mistress. Hoxne is like the Archers but only with the good bits. Our Linda Snell is nicer, but, I should concede, not as funny!
We have an open log fire and a wood burner for cosiness, dreams and whisping winter thoughts, and a large, sunny, sheltered, well-stocked garden for heady, lazy, hazy meanders. In high summer it’s more floral than my prose!
We look forward to meeting you.
