Armidale Cottages extends a warm and hospitable welcome to guests seeking quality, family-run B&B accommodation on the West Coast of Cumbria. Originally two cottages constructed over 100 years ago, with the first dating back to the late 1600s, our property holds historical significance as one of the oldest in the Village of Seaton. These cottages have been meticulously renovated to a high standard, preserving original features such as a stone staircase, oak beams, a large inglenook fireplace and wooden and stone floors, imbuing the space with old-world charm and a cosy ambiance.
Situated within half an acre of land featuring a small orchard, Armidale Cottages offers wood-burning stoves in the lounge and dining room, complemented by central heating throughout. The interior showcases slate floors in the lounge and hall, with wood floors in the dining room and bedroom. A super king-sized bed ensures a restful night's sleep, while broadband internet keeps you connected. Guests can enjoy a full English breakfast made from locally sourced ingredients and packed lunches are available upon request. Outside, our tranquil seating areas invite relaxation over coffee or drinks, ideal for planning walks or tours amidst Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk the quiet rural village setting of Seaton.
Our expansive gardens, meticulously cultivated over 25 years, feature mature pine, silver birch, beech trees and a flourishing orchard with Victoria plums and apples. A recent addition of a decking area with exotic plants enhances the modern and serene atmosphere. Wildlife thrives in and around the garden, with frequent visits from barn owls, red squirrels, pheasants, bats, hedgehogs and various garden birds.
We proudly offer a Dark Sky Friendly experience, catering to stargazing enthusiasts with a secluded orchard location equipped with comfortable seating, blankets, hot water bottles, hot drinks and snacks to enhance your nocturnal observation. Guests have access to a Sky-Watcher Telescope and can indulge in our Finnish Sauna, located amidst the orchard, perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation amid tranquil surroundings.
At Armidale Cottages, we offer an optional extra of the use of a luxurious and secluded traditional Finnish sauna, set behind the apple tree at the rear of our orchard away from the main house. This serene setting provides the perfect escape to unwind and relax from the pressures of daily life, allowing guests to enjoy the sauna's health benefits in privacy. With no strict rules other than to embrace the experience and find relaxation, our traditional wood-fired sauna is designed to cleanse both body and mind, offering a tranquil retreat amidst natural surroundings.
