The Parsonage offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a traditional Somerset long house, set in the tranquil village of Muchelney near Langport. This quaint Somerset village has been miraculously untouched and unspoilt by the passage of time and is an ideal base from which to explore the West Country.
The Garden Room: This large bedroom overlooks our garden and the rose arbour in summer. The 6ft wide bed has a Tempur mattress with fine sheets and blankets. A colour TV including Sky News is concealed in the service cupboard along with tea and coffee making facilities. A small refrigerator with fresh milk and a bottle of water is provided for our guests' use. Flowers, chocolates, a fruit bowl and a sherry decanter is offered to add a touch of decadence. The en suite bathroom is in a tasteful design with a special bath/shower combination. The shower is a power shower - even admired by our American guests.
The Village Room: This is a smaller double en suite room with an extremely comfortable 5ft wide bed with fine sheets and blankets. Overlooking a quiet road in our picturesque village, the room is tastefully decorated and has a colour TV including Sky News concealed in the service cabinet, along with tea and coffee making facilities. A small refrigerator with fresh milk and a bottle of water is provided for our guests. Flowers, chocolates and a fruit bowl together with a sherry decanter is offered to help our guests relax and unwind. This room is ideal as a single bedroom as well as a double. The en suite bathroom is in a tasteful design with a special bath/shower combination. It also has an invigorating power shower.
The School Room: We decided to call this twin room 'The School Room' for two reasons: firstly, it overlooks the old Village school house [now converted into a tasteful house], and; secondly, the antique iron beds revive fond memories of boarding school days in some of our guests - in this case the beds have been professionally converted in North Wales by the company Seventh Heaven, so they are longer and extremely comfortable. Both the beds are 3ft wide with deep comfortable mattresses. The room is also furnished with flowers, chocolates, and a fruit bowl along with a sherry decanter for more discerning guests. The dedicated bathroom is just across a landing [with night light] and is designed with the same care as our other bathrooms. It has a combined bath and invigorating power shower.
The lounge is of classic country style and in winter a roaring fire in the large inglenook fireplace is an ideal place to warm up after a brisk walk in our idyllic countryside. In summer, the large French windows open out into the local stone terrace, where our guests can sit and enjoy our beautiful and tranquil garden.
We have a small library of interesting and varied books for our guests' enjoyment and comfortable chairs ensure that your stay with us is both relaxing and peaceful.
Muchelney is within easy reach of the A303, Somerton, Yeovil, Taunton (M5) and the North and South coasts of the South West Peninsular. For travellers and tourists, the 5 star awarded Parsonage bed and breakfast offers a relaxing and comfortable stopover for the traveller to or from Cornwall and also makes a perfect base for exploring the delights of Somerset and the West Country.
