Uniquely situated on the edge of the City of Wells (England's smallest City). Islington House Bed & Breakfast was built more than three hundred years ago, and given to the Church in Queen Anne's Bounty. The Property has been privately owned since 1982 and still retains character with beamed ceilings throughout and inglenook fireplaces in two rooms.
Adjacent to the magnificent Cathedral and The Bishop's Palace and Gardens the house has a lovely rural outlook over fields and parkland. St Andrews stream runs through the grounds.
Guest accommodation comprises double and twin en suite rooms available for Bed & Breakfast.
Wrinkle Mead is a self catering cottage within the grounds of Islington House converted to the highest standard from stables in 2004.
Each room in the cottage has retained its character with valued original beamed ceilings.
Entry is via the front door into a spacious sitting room with large window overlooking fields, there is a television, video recorder and DVD player, also free view box. A fully equipped fitted kitchen overlooks the stream. there are two bedrooms one with twin beds and one with a double bed - linen and towels are provided at no extra cost, and a shower room. Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. There is a washing machine and dryer available.
There is private parking for two cars inside Islington House.
Just a few minutes walk away passing the moated Bishop's Palace is the ancient Market Place which leads to the high Street where there is a varied selection of shops, restaurants, inns and eating places. Markets are still held every Wednesday (Farmer's Market) and Saturday throughout the year. There is a park, bowling green and children's playground just across the road. We also offer Tea and Coffee making facilities in all the rooms.
Wells is centrally situated 20 miles from the sea at Weston super Mare and Burnham on sea, and the same distance from historic Georgian Bath and Bristol. Taunton is 30 miles away. Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead Gardens, Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Caves are all nearby, as well as a number of National Trust properties.
The Cottage is available all year, including the Christmas and New Year period. Bookings are from Friday to Friday. A deposit of 25% is payable on receipt of your booking, the remaining amount to be paid in full, 6 weeks before the date of your holiday.
Arrival time is after 3.00pm on the first day of your booking and it is requested that you vacate the cottage by 10.00am on the day that you leave. Please leave the property clean and tidy and report any breakages and damage before you leave.
Short breaks are available either from Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday outside of the summer season.
No Pets are allowed and the cottage is non smoking.
Alpaca wool for spinners is available.
There is a bus and coach station in Wells, the nearest train station is Castle Cary approximately 10miles away with Bristol, Bath and Weston super Mare 20 miles away.
