The Red Lion situated in the heart of the village of Dittisham has been operating since 1750 when it was a coaching inn.
Today we carry on the tradition with a modern touch. The Village Shop, Post Office and community Library services all operate on the premises as well as the Bar, good food served lunchtime and evening and B&B.
The Red Lion has 8 well appointed ensuite rooms. River View rooms have ensuite bathrooms with bath and shower in superior rooms with a wonderful view of the River Dart.
Standard rooms have ensuite shower rooms and overlook the countryside. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, flatscreen tv with freeview and free wifi access.
Breakfast is served from 9am to 10.30am in the breakfast room with views of the river and countryside. If you require your breakfast earlier we will endeavour to accommodate you.
Check in is usually after 3pm, although earlier check in can be arranged, Check out is before 12 noon. In the winter the bar is often closed on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, till 6pm - Checking into rooms during these times should be sorted when booking.
The Lunch menu is available from 12.30 till 2 and the evening menu from 7pm to 9pm, other times by arrangement, early evening meals or late arrivals.
We can cater for special diets, eg gluten or dairy free, please ask.
We serve locally sourced food where possible and have a range of specials both fresh fish and meat depending on the markets and time of the year.
Staying at the Red Lion, Dittisham, means you are well placed to enjoy the attractions of the surrounding region. Just across the Dart is Agatha Christie's beautiful holiday home of Greenaway, now owned by the national Trust. To the north is the Dartmoor National Park, while to the south - and just a ferry-ride down the river - is the historic and picturesque town of Dartmouth.
Two steam railways still run near-by, while further afield, the National Maritime Aquarium in Plymouth, and the Eden project are easy say excursions. Numerous beaches are easily accessible, while there are no less than four gold courses in easy reach.
South Hams is also perfect walking country and is popular with walkers, ramblers and rambling associations.
