Thimbles B&B offers warm and inviting guest accommodation in a country home in Heathfield, East Sussex. Our bed and breakfast is set in its own private 6 acre garden and is a calm and relaxing place to stay while visiting this lovely part of England. At our bed and breakfast we have an orchard where our rare breed chickens live, a large kitchen garden where we grow almost every sort of fruit and vegetable and we have a large lake with a bridge leading over to an island. The main garden has a circular rose garden. The garden contains 126 rose shrubs, consisting of 89 different varieties. We also keep rare breed pigs in the adjoining field during the summer and autumn months.
All of the guest rooms at our bed and breakfast have been tastefully decorated to ensure that guests have a relaxing place to return to at the end of each day. Our large double bedroom has a large en suite, TV & DVD player while our 2 single rooms which are at the top of the house have a shared bathroom. Please note that the single blue room has a large shower room opposite it. This is a “shared” bathroom, but Vicki and Simon (owners!) do not use the shower when the guests are in. This shower room is not used by other guests. So whoever books any of the top rooms or the blue room first, then the other rooms will become unavailable (because I do not have guests from separate bookings sharing a bathroom).
However, it is a perfect set up for a family or a group of friends who know each other. One of the single bedrooms can also take an extra single bed, please advise when booking if this is required.
Breakfast is freshly prepared each morning and our sausages are made using the meat from our own rare breed pigs as well as our own home dry cured and oak smoked bacon. We make our own bread and the eggs come from our own free range hens, you couldn’t ask for fresher or more local ingredients. We even produce our own honey! In essence, if we can grow it and make it, we do! The seville marmalades and jams are all made by Vicki. Evening suppers can be arranged with advance booking. You can either eat at the family dining table or outside where you will be surrounded by a beautiful herbaceous border. Alternatively, you could enjoy a barbeque on the island and perhaps partake in some fishing or just relax on the hammock on the island.
The bed and breakfast is only 20 minutes from Glyndebourne and the South Downs National Park. Royal Tunbridge Wells, Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton are all nearby. East Sussex and Kent have a large number of wonderful historical sites to visit.
