Robin, Susan Girdwood and their family would like to extend a warm welcome to all guests and visitors to The Old Priory Bed and Breakfast, our family home, and to the beautiful town of Kelso, the cobbled town, in the heart of the Scottish Borders. The Borders is a beautiful if largely undiscovered part or Scotland, and in many ways we like to keep it a little bit secret, but it is not as Visit Scotland describe “The shortbreak destination of Scotland” when you come here there is a wealth of history to keep you in the area for many days. Most people, who discover the Borders come back year after year.
All rooms have multi channel TV with dvd player, Wi-Fi access, hospitality tray, hair dryer, toiletries, percale bedding, memory foam toppers on all bed except the singles in the Family Suite. All rooms now have silk filled duvets, warm but light and great for allergy sufferers. We have made these rooms as comfortable as we would expect for ourselves and our friends. All rooms also have en suite, central heating and we have installed a pressurised water system to ensure a steady supply of hot water.
Whilst not being licenced we have whisky glasses and wine glasses in all rooms and if you wish to bring your own tipple, we are happy to give you ice or chill a bottle.
The Dining Room - A spacious and light dining room with views of our gardens, located on the ground floor of The Old Priory Bed & Breakfast.
Room One - Room One has a King Size Bed and in the en-suite a shower room. This room is situated on the Ground Floor and has easy access as well as double glazing, shutters and blackout curtains. This room is notorious for guests over sleeping!
The Turret Room - The Turret Room has a Double bed and in the en-suite a bath and shower over. This room is situated on the Ground Floor and has easy access. Shutters and Double glazing on the front help to provide a good night’s sleep and the rear window overlooks the garden.
The Family Suite - SuiteThe Family Suite has a Super King Size bed in the first room and twin singles with a shower in the en-suite in the second room. The windows overlook the garden and as with all of our rooms have working shutters. The door next to the fireplace shows where the twin bedroom is located. The shower room is in the twin room. This is a magnificent room and the photos do not do it justice.
The Sitting Room - Rarely used but full of books, CD’s, games and magazines.
We have a very flexible layout and can accommodate most parties. We have twin beds, doubles and the Family Suite and are unusual in having two downstairs bedrooms. We find the flexibility useful for fishing, walking and golfing parties. Our Sitting Room provides a huge space in which to have a glass of wine while you plan your next outing. The Sitting Room overlooks the garden and the church, as well as that we have recently added the Garden Room, another sitting area on the ground floor. The garden is enclosed and we encourage guests to use it.
