Old Fishergate House offers bed and breakfast accommodation in one of the oldest houses in St Andrews. We are just a short drive from the castle and the house has been beautifully renovated throughout. We are ideally placed for those wishing to explore everything that Fife has to offer.
There are two suites in the house both with twin beds, en suite facilities and private sitting rooms. Bedrooms are individually furnished and create a feeling of spacious luxury. Both of our suites have private en suite facilities, flat screen TV with DVD, radio alarm, hairdryer, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, homemade shortbread, iron & ironing board, central heating and a selection of books & magazines.
Guests can choose from a varied menu, cooked to order - for example a full Scottish breakfast or a tasty smoked haddock omelette perhaps some Scotch pancakes, bacon and maple syrup or a lighter continental breakfast of cheeses, cold meats and fruit. A selection of teas, fruit infusions and our own blend of ground coffee are available as well as fresh toast to set you up for the day. Vegetarian and vegan diets or food allergies can be accommodated but please mention this on booking.
Our B&B is situated in North Castle Street just 50 metres from St Andrews Castle and close to the Cathedral which now unfortunately in ruins was the largest in Scotland when it was completed in 1318. Much of the stone used to build the house came from the cathedral.
The town centre is a few minutes walk away, as is the University, St Salvator’s Chapel, the picturesque harbour and a host of buildings of historical interest. The famous Old Course, the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and the British Golf Museum are within a 10 minute walk. The recently rebuilt Byre Theatre is only a couple of hundred metres away and stages some excellent productions.
