Cairnie Cottage Bed and Breakfast provides luxury B&B accommodation close to the picturesque village of Colinsburgh in the historic Scottish county of Fife. Our bed and breakfast is perfect for its proximity to some famous golf courses and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful area.
All bedrooms at Cairnie Cottage have a modern TV and there is good internet connectivity throughout the house. Guests can choose from the following accommodation:
Room 1 - At ground floor level, this self contained double bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a shower. It faces south with windows on three sides: you could almost be sleeping in the garden.
Room 2 - A double room, a twin bedded room and a bathroom. Self-contained, the suite comprises the whole of the upper floor of the cottage's new extension, or wing. The main accommodation in the suite is a double room with full-length windows facing south. The second room is a twin (with 2 separate single beds) and is also light and spacious. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower and it is available exclusively for occupants of the suite. The rates offer particularly good value for 2 single people who require separate bedrooms (where the same rates as for double occupancy of Room 1 downstairs apply), or for small groups of 3 or 4 people.
The Dining room, where breakfast is served, is part sun room / conservatory and is flooded with sun in the mornings.
The house and grounds extend to about 3 acres in total, the grounds of the house are entirely private. Like the accommodation at Cairnie Cottage the gardens have been totally revamped and landscaped. The work has resulted in most attractive separately defined areas of lawn, orchard, vegetable garden and flower beds.
The entire property nestles below a south facing bank of trees which provide the protection from northerly winds and the Kilconquhar Burn runs along the southern boundary. The MacDowels are no strangers to sharing their home with B&B guests: skills were perfected over a 10 year stretch at their magnificent home in Murrayfield Gardens, Edinburgh during the 1990s.
Whilst staying at the bed and breakfast, guests can easily visit the many fishing villages on the coastline, walk along the Fife Coastal Path or discover one of the inland tourist attractions. There are numerous well known golf courses within a short drive together with an endless list of mouth wateringly good restaurants and pubs.
