Situated only seven miles from the City of Edinburgh, the property is ideal for those visitors who require a quiet base for exploring the area, or as a starting point for a trip further North to the Highlands of Scotland. The house is also ideal for the business traveller to take time out after a hectic day and relax, away from the hustle and bustle of city centre Edinburgh.
We have three superb bedrooms to offer the tourist and business traveller alike, all facing west with views over the countryside. All are tastefully decorated and have wash hand basins, hairdryers, tea and coffee. A cot is also available for younger guests.
There are three bathrooms (one en suite with double room plus two other bathrooms with bath, shower and loo) as well as a separate loo.
We refer to the bedrooms as follows:
The Blue Room:
A pretty twin or double room with a view over the garden and field with cows or sheep grazing.
The Yellow Room:
Light and airy twin or double room beautifully furnished with a mixture of cane and antique furniture.
The Double Room:
A tranquil, calm room with relaxing views over the garden. The generous sized double bed features a bedhead displaying the heraldic colours of Michael's grandfather who was an aviation pioneer one hundred years ago. This room also has a beautiful en suite bathroom.
Unlike a lot of other B&B establishments, Louise serves breakfast from the extra early time of 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. (even this is fairly flexible) in the family dining room overlooking the garden.
Weather permitting you may also wish to have breakfast al fresco. She is famous for her hearty breakfasts, which always include home made preserves.
The cosy farmhouse kitchen where Louise prepares all the breakfasts on the coal fired Aga is the heart and soul of Craigbrae.
Guests are also welcome to use the family drawing room which is equipped with satellite television, video recorder, many videos and books and of course a log fire in the winter and on chilly days in the summer. The room also features a magnificent display of family portraits and pictures.
Overlooking the garden, guests use the family dining room for breakfast. Surrounded by family portraits and pictures guests can relax for the most important meal of the day whilst enjoying the view.
Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and enjoy the surroundings to the full. We have also published what we call the Craigbrae Guide on the site, giving you extensive information for daily excursions which are easily accessible from the farmhouse. We have also included a list of recommended restaurants, both within the local area and in Edinburgh.
