Hillcrest is a beautiful old house, situated to take advantage of the glorious views of the Galloway Hills, Wigtown Bay and across the Solway Firth to the hills of the English Lakes District. We have been as careful as possible with our changes as we wanted to retain the character and charm of the building, and we work hard at combining good, honest food (for which we have been awarded a gold medal at each of the last three Scottish Hotel of the Year awards) with lovely, comfortable rooms to give our guests a perfect stay.
All of the bedrooms are spacious with high ceilings and en-suite bathrooms. They are arranged as 2 doubles, 2 twins, a family room (a double and full sized bunks), and our four-poster room with its bay-window seating area to take full benefit of the views.
When you come down to the dining room, you will find juice, fruit, local yoghurts, and a selection of cereals on the sideboard to get you started. Relax and plan your day over freshly brewed Fairtrade tea or coffee, while your choice of cooked breakfast is freshly prepared to order - select from our menu, which also gives you lots of information about our suppliers.
Whether your perfect break includes Dark Sky star-gazing, birdwatching, walking, cycling, gardens, golf, fishing, wildfowling or just relaxing and browsing the many bookshops, stay with us, eat with us, make yourselves at home and share with us the stunning beauty all around that made us choose this as our home.
