The Britannia Inn is the quintessential English, Lake District Inn. Nestled in the centre of the picturesque village of Elterwater amidst the imposing mountains of the Langdale Valley in Cumbria. The Britannia offers a sanctuary away from hectic daily life with real ales and foods to satisfy all tastes.

Our lunch and evening menus provide an eclectic dining experience from popular favourites to the more unusual. Wherever possible local produce is used to provide freshly prepared meals with daily changing chef's specials.
In the evening, the dining room is much in demand and we recommend booking in advance. For a more informal setting, meals and refreshments are also available in the bar areas and on the patio throughout the day. The same menu is offered throughout the Inn.
The Langdale Valley is in the heart of the English Lake District, with excellent walking to be found in all directions from the front door of The Britannia Inn. The lofty summits of Scafell, Bowfell and the famous Langdale Pikes beckon the energetic, while the lower fells and valleys offer a more leisurely but equally scenic stroll. There are many famous towns and villages just waiting to be explored such as Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Coniston and Keswick, each with their own spectacular views, attractions and shops.
