The Old School was built in 1866 and is situated in the unspoilt tranquil village of Newbiggin just 4 miles from Penrith, 3/4 of a mile off the A66 trans-pennine route and 2 ¾ miles from junction 40 on the M6, useful for a stopover to and from Scotland.
It has now been converted into guest accommodation with three en suite rooms, 1 Single, 1 Queen Double and 1 Super-King Double/Twin.
The house is fully carpeted and centrally heated. We have a library of books and games which you can enjoy while you visit. There is a guest dining room that can be used to play cards, chess dominoes, or just read, when not serving meals. In the summer, seating is provided on the paved terrace in the garden to enjoy. We can serve tea or coffee if desired.
All bedrooms now have Freeview TV, towelling robes and fridges.
For your use while you are here, you will find in a cabinet drawer in your room; a shoe polishing kit, sewing kit, manicure set, hairdryer, and just in case you have brought some wine with you, there are glasses and a corkscrew on a silver tray for your use.
In the refrigerator you will find the milk of your choice, for a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or herbal teas, with a tin of biscuits to enjoy, you will also find a sweetie jar by the bed. If you have pre-ordered a newspaper our friendly milkman will deliver it around 8.30am in the morning on weekdays and Sunday, and on Saturday around 9.15am.
You will find a clock radio CD player by the bed, there are also some cd's in a drawer, and bathrobes in the wardrobe with an extra blanket and a slip mat for the bath, or shower. There are toiletries in a basket for your use.

If you would care to join John & I in the lounge on an evening you will be most welcome. Even in the summer months there may be a cold day, so we will probably have a roaring fire in the grate.
