The Old School offers bed & breakfast accommodation in a lovely guest house in the rural village of Stratton Audley in Oxfordshire. There is a lovely outlook over fields with tennis court, croquet and delightful garden for tea outside. A warm, friendly welcome awaits you with tea and home-made cakes served on arrival.
Our B&B has central heating throughout, there are four guest bedrooms – two double rooms and two twin rooms, each room being individually designed with antique furniture, pictures, tea/coffee tray and free high speed broadband internet access. Two of the rooms are downstairs, with just three stairs. All the beds are of high quality with white linen which, together with the peaceful surroundings, give you a good night’s sleep.
The bathrooms have a bath and shower, loo and basin, with fitted carpet so no slipping, and are well appointed and clean.
The delightful gardens are 1.9 acres in all with lawns and borders. At the rear there is a sun-trap terrace with table and chairs where guests can relax with a cup of tea and home-made cakes. So peaceful – with just the sound of the birds. The lawn is bordered by a ha-ha leading to a field with a pretty stream round its boundary and views to fields beyond. There is a hard tennis court for guests to enjoy, together with croquet on the lawns.
The local village of Stratton Audley has an attractive thatched pub a few minutes walk away that serves very good meals so drivers don’t need to worry about drinking and driving. The Red Lion is well worth visiting with its good food and wine. The guest house is an ideal base to visit Bicester Village, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, The Cotswolds, Birmingham and London.
